Lilith VanHorn has never once looked like she needed the camera. That's the whole problem with shooting her — you don't direct her, you keep up. The gothic thing gets flattened into a costume by people who don't live in it. She doesn't wear it. She's built out of it. Black on black, shoulders squared, a stare that arrives about half a second before you're ready for it. Every frame in this archive is her holding that line, and the ones where she breaks it are the ones you'll come back to.
Why this one lands differently

The set doesn't escalate so much as it settles, and by the back third of the book the mood has gone from confrontational to something quieter and considerably more dangerous.
